A horizon with no edge, the soft sound of cascading water, and a pool that melts into the Lowcountry landscape — an infinity pool turns a great view into an unforgettable one. As the only Master Pool Builder in the Charleston and Bluffton region, Aqua Blue Pools brings decades of award-winning experience to every vanishing-edge project, from design and engineering to construction and long-term care.
An infinity pool — also called a vanishing edge, negative edge, or infinity edge pool — is a custom-built pool with one or more edges set level with the horizon. Water spills over those edges into a hidden catch basin and recirculates, creating the illusion that the pool extends endlessly into the marsh, river, or sea beyond. Unlike a standard inground pool with four solid walls, an infinity design is engineered specifically to frame a view, which makes it ideal for the Lowcountry’s waterfront and elevated lots.
Infinity pools are among the most technically demanding pools to build, especially on Bluffton’s marsh-front lots or Charleston’s elevated coastal sites. Our designers and engineers calculate the weir height, catch-basin volume, and hydraulics so the vanishing edge looks effortless and performs flawlessly for decades. Every pool is built in steel-reinforced concrete for the strength and design freedom a true infinity edge requires.
Our experienced designers shape an infinity pool around your property, your view, and how you live outdoors.
We specialize in steel-reinforced concrete, the only material precise and durable enough to deliver a vanishing edge that looks and works exactly as intended.
Infinity systems need specialized care around the catch basin and pumps. Our scheduled maintenance plans keep yours pristine year-round.
Have an aging vanishing-edge pool? Our renovation team modernizes finishes, upgrades hydraulics, and brings older designs up to current code.

Schedule a Design Consultation »Infinity pools cost more than standard inground pools because of the extra engineering, catch basin, and hydraulics required for the vanishing edge. Most custom infinity builds in the Charleston and Bluffton area begin well into six figures and scale with size and features. A design consultation gives you an accurate, site-specific estimate.
A regular inground pool has four solid walls that contain the water. An infinity pool has one or more edges built level with the horizon, so water overflows into a hidden catch basin and recirculates — creating the “endless” visual effect.
Infinity pools are designed to frame a view, so they’re best suited to waterfront, marsh-front, or elevated lots like those found in Bluffton, Beaufort, and coastal Charleston. On a flat lot without a view, a geometric or freeform pool is often a better fit.
They require slightly more attention around the catch basin and pumps than a standard pool, but our scheduled maintenance plans handle that for you so the vanishing edge performs reliably year-round.
Yes. Sloped and waterfront lots are ideal for infinity designs. We’ve engineered some of the most complex vanishing-edge pools in the Charleston and Bluffton Lowcountry.
Because of the added engineering, infinity pools typically take longer than a standard inground build. We provide a full timeline at the design stage.
