Enjoy Your Pool During the Fall

The air feels just a bit crisper, the leaves are changing, the Charleston Sweetgrass is in Fall bloom and the sun sinks below the horizon at an earlier time each day – fall has finally arrived in the Lowcountry!

With the temperatures dropping, you may be wondering how you can still enjoy your pool and spa. Pool parties in the summertime may get all the glory, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy your pool during the fall as well! For starters, the Lowcountry Fall season offers up some pretty spectacular back drops to your pool setting.

Feeling the chill? Cooler Temperatures Won’t Stop the Fun!

There is no better way to warm up than by taking in some laps or by leisurely swimming around in a heated pool! Most of the heated residential pools installed by Aqua Blue Pools use Pentair® Master Temp Heat Pumps and one thing to keep in mind is that they will efficiently heat the pool when the outdoor temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Heat pumps will not work below the 55 degree mark but you can inquire about other pool heating methods that can extend your pool’s heating capacity.

Outdoor Spas

Spas are perfect for those cool Mount Pleasant fall evenings outdoors. Although these are heated year-round, there’s something special about dipping into the soothing warm water on a brisk evening. Spas are heated by gas rather than heat pumps, which allows them to warm up even faster. Relaxation is just moments away!

Pool Fire Features

You may not like the idea of swimming in the dark, and with the sun setting earlier, this presents a real problem. We have good news for you – installing pool fire features is a beautiful and effective method for getting around this issue! Not to mention it provides outdoor ambiance.

The most popular way of doing this is to install a water bowl (or several) with the fire feature in the center that uses gas for the flame. If water bowls are not your style, linear fire features are another option for your residential pool.

These fire feature alternatives come in a variety of sizes and styles. Looking to not only add light and heat, but also a touch of modernity to your outdoor oasis? Try using glass stones. If you prefer a more natural look, outfit your fire features with stones or lava rocks. There are a wealth of style opportunities, limited only by your imagination!

Last but certainly not least, fall is the perfect time for entertaining guests. The holidays are approaching quickly and football season is well underway; why not host gatherings around the pool?

In addition to fire features adding light and heat, your pool can also have LED and WiFi-compatible lighting. Gather around the fire, turn on your outdoor TV, put the grill back to work, and enjoy the company of your friends and family.

Cooling temperatures don’t have to mean your Charleston pool is out of commission for the season. Contact our pool and spa builders to learn more!
